About NCCB Mission & Vision

The Northern Citizen Community Board (NCCB) is a legally registered non-profit organization based in Chitral, Pakistan. The organization was formally registered in September 2007 under the Social Welfare Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly NWFP), with Registration Number: 556, ensuring full compliance with national statutory and regulatory frameworks governing non-governmental organizations. NCCB has since maintained robust coordination with district government authorities and relevant line departments, positioning itself as a credible and accountable actor in community development and social welfare initiatives across the northern regions of Pakistan.

Since 2015, NCCB has been recognized as a United Nations–accredited NGO with Special Consultative Status (SCS) to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). NCCB is one of the few Pakistan-based social enterprises/non-profit organizations to achieve this distinction. ECOSOC Special Consultative Status enables NCCB to actively engage with the United Nations, its subsidiary bodies, and its programmes, funds, and agencies on issues directly related to the UN’s objectives. This status authorizes NCCB to:

* Attend and participate in UN conferences and high-level meetings,
* Designate official UN representatives to missions worldwide,
* Circulate statements, position papers, and technical reports at ECOSOC and other UN forums,
* Contribute to policy dialogues, global advocacy, and rights-based program development.

This accreditation reflects NCCB’s adherence to international best practices in governance, transparency, and programmatic accountability. It allows the organization to bring local perspectives from Chitral and the northern regions of Pakistan to global platforms, aligning grassroots realities with international human rights standards, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and evidence-based development practices.

By leveraging its legal registration and UN consultative status, NCCB implements programs and advocacy initiatives that are rights-based, participatory, and sustainable, addressing the structural causes of social inequality, vulnerability, and marginalization while promoting inclusive development, gender equality, child protection, and climate resilience in Pakistan.
